What is chicken curry


Today’s chicken curry is a healthy pan dinner. A very easy to prepare light creamy coconut curry made with only five ingredients. Its tastes so good that you will be amazed, when you eat it with basmati rice or naan roti, it is surprisingly hearty. Chicken curry is common in many countries of the world including India, Asian countries. Today I am sharing the best simple chicken curry recipe. This recipe is a western style curry. You will love it as much as my family and I do. This traditional Indian curry is not Thai curry or any other food but it is an excellent chicken curry. (Chicken Mendo)

You need these things to make chicken curry

§  1.5 to 2 pounds of chicken (cut into pieces)

§  curry powder( These are the only spices you will need, any brand of spice can be used here)

§  2 tablespoons of cooking oil

§  1 large onion (finely chopped)

§  2 tomatoes (pureed or finely chopped)

§  2 teaspoons of curry powder

§  1 teaspoon of cumin powder

§  1teaspoon of coriander powder

§  Half a teaspoon of turmeric powder

§  Half a teaspoon of red chili powder (adjust according to your spice preference)

§  Salt to taste

§  Half a cup of yogurt

§  Fresh coriander leaves for garnishing

§  Chicken broth, Stock and coconut milk

In this we are using a cup of coconut milk for creaminess and flavour. You can also up peas in this.

Curry powder

I have prepared this curry powder myself but you can use different brands, I have used different brands of powder in the past.

Curry powder is used in all kind of recipes.

How to make it

Step: 1 Heat cooking oil in a medium inch pan, add chopped onion and fry until golden.

Step: 2 Cut the garlic into small pieces and grind the ginger, add them both to the pan and cook for a minute

Step: 3 Cut the chicken into small pieces and add them to the pan and cook until the chicken pieces are lightly browned. This should take you five to seven minutes.

Step: 4 Take a large bowl and mix it with fresh tomatoes, curry powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt. Add this mixture to the pan with the kitchen.

Step: 5 stir the spoon to mix the chicken with the spices until its smooth. Cook for five minutes on medium heat.

Step: 6 Now add peas and cook for two minutes.

Step: 7 Reduce the heat, add half a cup of curs to the pan and mix it well.

Step: 8 Close the lid of the wok until the chicken is well tender. It will take ten minutes

Step: 9 Finally, add one 14-ounce can of coconut milk to the skillet. Stir the spoon slowly to combine all the ingredients.

Step: 10 Increase the heat to a simmer, and then reduce the heat to low and simmer for another five minutes to allow the flavour to blend well.

Step: 11 You can add peas and other vegetables after adding the chicken.

Step: 12 Delicious coconut milk chicken curry is ready.

Here is how to boil rice

  •        To prepare rice, boil water, add salt and cook on low.
  •      Take another pan and add coconut milk to it, heat it slightly, then add rice to it.
  •       Cook the rice mixed with coconut milk until you get a creamy consistency.
  •       Then add other ingredients to it.
  •       You can serve the chicken curry hot with steamed rice, naan roti, noodles or mashed potatoes. Garnish with fresh red chilli leaves and coriander for added flavour and freshness. You can adjust it to your liking by adding more or less examples.

Instructions

Chicken: Boneless chicken will be better as it remains juicy after boiling Sauté the chicken breast curry with the onion. Sprinkle with two extra pinches of curry powder and pinch of salt and pepper.

Shrimp: You can also use pieces of Prawns or fish.

Other proteins: Beef, Lamb, Pork can be used.

Vegetables: Peas, carrots, potatoes etc. Can also be added to it.
